I stood alone there for hours, looking up at the sky...
I closed my eyes and listened, though I did not know why...
I heard a voice, speaking through the night...
I heard it draw me forth, and I knew it was right...
I followed your trail, oh prey, through street and over the wall...
I look up once, see the storm blowing and the rain...
I follow the trail, an end to the pain...
I followed you trail, oh prey, across the hills and over the land...
I hear the clear voice calling from near the sand...
I rush out then, dashing near grass and waves...
Tracking your scent through roads and alleys, and where soldiers left their graves...
I catch sight of you as the lightning flashes...
I know no fear, as a tree falls to ashes!
I do not ask myself, why must I chase?
I do not ask myself, what is this strange place?
I seek only the hunt, singing from a place deep within...
I run and chase my prey, with those that are my kin!
I seek your scent on roads, I seek it near city and home...
I find it close, very close, where, when I was young, I found it a place to roam...
I stand before you, and high above the sky flashes bright!
And I realize that all this time, I was alone... All alone in the night.
Who did I hunt? Why did I fly? And how came I to this place?
I knew then the truth and laughed, and stood there by the stone...
The face of the prey, the truth I had tracked...
The face I saw was my own...
And now my fear, gone at last, I stood there at last... Intact.
And now I return home, though I struck nothing for my meal...
I find myself in high spirits, for my heart the hunt did heal.
